| Unlike the more well known Boy Scout of America program, Sea Scouts is a coed program. Within BSA there is a group of coed programs collectively known as Venturing, which includes Sea Scouts. Boy Scouts are organized into Troops, Venturing into Crews and Sea Scouts into Ships. The Ship in Ship 26 does not refer to a physical vessel but to our organization, which is a Ship. We are number 26, formerly located in East Rockway but currently based in West Hempstead. The Venturing programs encompass many high adventure activities. For example, Sea Scouting is high adventure associated with water activities including scuba diving and sailing. However, since the Sea Scout program is part of Venturing many land based activities such as riflery, hiking, rock climbing, camping, snow boarding or skiing are available. The ability to participate in high adventure activities on both land and water makes Sea Scouting the best kept secret in scouting! As a Sea Scout, young men and women can particiate in an almost limitless range of activities all devoted to responsible fun and adventue. Frequent meetings of the different Venturing groups ensures that information on available activities is quickly disseminated. You do not have to be an existing member of the Boy Scouts of America to join the Sea Scouts. If you are a members of a Boy Scout Troop you can also be a part of the Sea Scouts and can continue to earn merit badges toward the Eagle Rank either through your Troop or through the Ship.
